Got Molluscum? Target it Naturally

When it comes to being a testimony for natural health, I feel like we certainly have had our fair share of experiences. From Autism, ADHD, ear infections, fevers, sleep disruption you name it, we have weathered it. Nothing is more powerful than to see results from natural remedies and experience it in real life.

The start..

In 2013 I started to notice little “bumpies” on little brother (age 5 now). At first I didn’t think much of it, other than maybe an allergic reaction or a rash that would go away quickly. Slowly it started to get worse, to the point that many of those little bumps were getting larger, redder and multiplying.

We received a diagnosis of molluscum contagiousum (warts) and began on a homeopathic treatment called Indigo drops. This was by far the most challenging remedy ever prescribed. It literally tasted like I scooped up a mound of dirt, worms and all, and had to swish it around in my mouth. Absolute torture. But little brother took it like a champ, and it didn’t even phase him, twice a day. What a trooper.

We diligently followed the protocol for 2 months with little progress, and began to worry. I was told it could take up to 6 months, and there really was no full-proof treatment (by a modern Doc). Sure there are a whole-host of pharmaceutical creams with ingredients we would NEVER want seeping into our child, or painful removal procedures, but none of those were at the top of our list.

A little history

Molluscum contagious (warts) are benign epidermal eruptions resulting from viral infections of the skin. Molluscum contagiosum eruptions are usually self-limited and without sequelae, although they can be more extensive in immunocompromised persons. Spontaneous disappearance of lesions is the norm, but treatment by local destruction (curettage, cryotherapy, or trichloroacetic acid) or immunologic modulation can shorten the disease course, possibly reducing autoinoculation and transmission. Warts result from a hyperkeratotic reaction to human papillomavirus infection. Warts are treated by local destruction (acids, cryotherapy, electrodesiccation-curettage), chemotherapy, or immunotherapy. The choice of treatment varies with the age and wishes of the patient, the potential side effects of the treatment, and the location of the lesions.

  • Molluscum contagiosum is a viral skin infection that causes either single or multiple raised, pearl-like bumps (papules) on the skin.
  • Molluscum contagiosum is a chronic infection and lesions may persist from a few months to a few years. However, most cases resolve in six to nine months.

What Causes Molluscum Contagiosum?

Molluscum contagiosum is caused by a virus of the same name that is part of the pox virus family. The virus is contagious through direct contact and is more common in children. However, the virus also can be spread by sexual contact and can occur in people with compromised immune systems. Molluscum contagiosum can spread on a single individual through scratching and rubbing.

Is there a good treatment?

The typical MC lesion is an asymptomatic, firm, smooth, round papule with central umbilication. Lesions are usually 3 to 5 mm in diameter, In children, the papules typically are found on the extremities, trunk, and face.

Allopathic Treatment-surprise! really no good options

Lesion eradication may be mechanical (curettage, laser, or cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen or nitrous oxide cryogen), chemical (trichloroacetic acid, tretinoin [Retin-A]), or immunologic (imiquimod [Aldara]).

NO Thank YOU

Curettage or cryotherapy is commonly performed in the primary care setting. In children, application of topical anesthetic (e.g., lidocaine/prilocaine [EMLA cream]) under occlusion 15 to 30 minutes before curettage has been shown to significantly reduce pain.

NO thank YOU, again.

Modern Medicine really has no Answer!

All treatments are hampered by wart persistence and recurrence. Warts are only an outward symptom of an underlying infection; topical treatments do not eradicate HPV but merely hold it at bay. So let me get this straight, I can subject my child to:

  • Acids
  • Freezing
  • Burning
  • Chemotherapy
  • Immunotherapy

I say, NOT SO!

We continued our homeopathic regimen, decided to step it up a notch and really, I mean REALLY put these essentials oils to the test. Warts are a virus, and also a gut issue…viruses don’t like oils…win-win.

I made a roller tube with oregano, melaleuca, ledum, juniper and frankincense essential oils, mixed with a little jojoba oil. I also used the ledum and juniper as singles over the liver to push for more detoxification as a complement to support GI tract from the effects of this virus and help expel it from his body. It is incredibly important to cleanse the liver, especially when the body has potential toxins in it. Other ways we cleanse the liver are:

  • Phlush found at (we get the capsules)
  • Master Cleanse program

We applied the mixture morning, noon and night. I started with just oregano mixed with jojoba oil. I then started to incorporate other oils. We saw some great improvement but it did take a little time. Once we hit the one-month mark we saw significant improvement.

A product that was an excellent support was colloidal silver drops. We purchase ours HERE which is very potent and actually much higher quality than you find in stores.

After 1 week we were definitely on the right track! Some did come back and then go away, and it was a bit of a battle, but just by the mere fact of improvement I was sold. Then after a month they really disappeared.

After 1 month of our regimen it was nearly back to perfect skin.

Why did this work so well?

Because healing occurred from the inside out and pure essential oils know exactly where to go. They have an amazing intelligence that synthetics will NEVER be able to replicate. It is impossible.

For starters, we are not just talking about something that smells good (do not be fooled by “yummy smelling things”.

By definition, essential oils are are the vital fluids of plants, (if you take your fingernail and scratch it across a leaf, the “juices” that are released are part of those vital fluids). These fluids are necessary for the life of the plant and contain life force, intelligence, and vibrational energy that gives them healing properties that we can harness and use through distillation. Essential oils are composed of tiny molecules that can penetrate every cell, crossing the blood/brain barrier and administer healing therapy at the most fundamental and basic level of our bodies.

Oregano Essential Oil – A Phenol Machine!

Oregano essential oil may be used for many types of infections, to support the respiratory system and as an unbelievable aid to the immune system. Also known to target parasites and yeast.

Phenols are a specific type of molecular compound found in many essential oils that offer a host of cleansing properties. Phenols create conditions where unfriendly viruses and bacteria don’t want to live. In addition to the ability to attack microbes, phenols may also promote hormonal balance and healthy bodily function. Their most important feature is that they clean the receptor sites on the cells. If the receptor sites aren’t clean, cells can’t communicate, and with lack of communication your body ends up malfunctioning and sickness sets in. The following essential oils contain phenols, with Anise essential oil being the highest in phenol content.
Anise (90%)
Clove (80%)
Basil (70%)
Oregano (70%)
Thyme (48%)
Calamus (30%)
Cinnamon (25%)

Tea Tree oil

Tea tree oil can be used directly on the skin to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes. When diffused, it helps to purify and cleanse the air from environmental impurities including cigarette smoke and other disagreeable odors. Amazing to cleanse the blood and body of unwanted visitors.

sustainably healthy frankincense oil

Frankincense (Boswellia carteri) has a sweet, warm, balsamic aroma that is stimulating and elevating to the mind. It has comforting properties that help focus the mind and overcome stress and despair. More recently, it has been used in European and American hospitals and is the subject of substantial research for targeting cancer and other cell dysfunction. Frankincense is also a valuable ingredient in skin care products for aging and dry skin. The ancient Egyptians used it in rejuvenation face masks. Frankincense contains sesquiterpenes which stimulate the limbic system of the brain (the center of memory and emotions) and the hypothalamus, pineal and pituitary glands. Frankincense is truly the kind of a healthy immune system.

sustainably healthy ledum

Ledum and Juniper

What goes in, must come out. These are the mack-daddy of detoxifiers for the liver and kidneys.

They provide support for the liver through the unique chemical structure of the oil derived from these plants.

We chose to try natural treatments first. Warts are highly contagious and a sign that something is gong array in the body. Because it is a virus, antibiotics will do absolutely nothing. Viral infections can sometimes be the most challenging to treat, often because they keep coming back.

The reason this protocol worked so well, and so rapidly was because we not only treated the viral infection topically at the site, but also internally with cleansing the liver and gut to permanently restore the health of our amazingly strong boy!

Hello! We’re really struggling with getting rid of Molluscum as well. Would you mind sharing if you used the oils in roller balls or how you use them? If you use roller ball show many drops of each oil did you use? Thank you so much!
    Many blessings,

    • JM JM says:

So sorry for the delay Barbara! I am happy to offer what we used to help our son. I do only recommend a certain type of oil due to purity. Are you currently using a certain brand?

      • Jill Barber says:

I use young living oils and we have been fighting molluscum for over 3 yrs on our son. I would love to know the exact amounts you used for the roller. We are also battling some eczema under the molluscum. Its quite a battle for us.

        • JM JM says:

I am not an exact amount kind of person. I find that Oils work no matter what. If you are battling eczema I assume you have possibly tried to remove gluten and dairy? It is also stressed induced, so I find that targeting the emotions with essential oils is very beneficial.

Hi. I am so happy i came across this post. My 18 month old has molluscum. I am willing to try your mixture of EO. Can you please email me the details?

    • Anabella Mian says:

My daughter has had molluscum for over a year now. I tried burning them at teh doctor’s office and i’ll never do tat again, apple cider vinegar (which burnt her skin) and now a combination of oils from everyone’s advice in the internet. It’s working but I don’t know which ones are doing the trick. I became a member of YL so I had the starter kit plus some Tea Tree oil and Thuja. I added Thieves, Purification, frankincense, lavender, lemon and mixed them with the animal scents ointment which has tee tree and myrrh. Now I’m all out and need to mix a batch. Can you tell me your exact recipe please?

      • JM JM says:

Hello! Thank you for sharing. I know just how frustrating that can be. I can’t really give our a specific recipe due to FDA regulations and oils. Do you have a sponsor that you enrolled with to assist you? Feel free to email me as well if you like. xoxo

  • Lindsey says:

My 9 year old has a pretty nasty case of molluscum on his abdomen, I use YL myself and we started by using Purification on him because of advice I’d received, no results. I switched to Tea Tree and it seemed like something was changing but I’m not sure if it really was or if it was just me wanting it to look different. I just received Oregano so I’m wanting to make a mixture of Tea Tree, Oregano and Thieves for him. Do you think it would be best to make into a cream with coconut oil or just a diluted roller ball mix? Also, do you suggest adding Frank too?

  • Heather says:

Hi! I currently use Young Living essential oils and I am wondering if you diluted your mixture? My daughter with molluscum c. is 10 years old. Thank you for any info on dilution or the exact mixture you use.
